Rob Sollis Ceramics

About ...

Rob Sollis  has  been potting since his school days in Kent.  In 1984 he started his apprenticeship at Dartington Pottery Training Workshop in Devon.

Finishing four years of intensive training he took a job in Norway,  production-throwing for a potter there and for a number of years exported ceramic tableware across the North Sea.

In 1991, he set up Fishacre Pottery near Totnes and spent fourteen years there.  Those early years were filled with experimentation and enthusiasm and  before long he had begun to specialise in Raku firing.  With this body of work, he quickly became collectable, selling Studio Art ceramics under his own name: Rob Sollis.

For the past number of years, Rob has been living and working in Combinteignhead, a fourteenth-century village near Newton Abbot. His pottery - the old Blacksmith's 'Linney' is adjacent to a brook which flows past his studio on its way down to the Teign estuary.  He says 'it is such an idyllic spot to work' - in the heart of rural Devon.
